Safety needles let nurses call the shots
Below is a quote from an article in the "Greenville News" about a safety syringe developed at PELabs for our customer MedSafe Technologies. To read the entire article, click here.
"Developed by MedSafe Technologies of Lawrenceville, Ga., the syringe the nurses tested is called CLICKSafe. It's a spring-loaded device that automatically retracts the needle and locks it in place after the injection has been administered, preventing contact with the needle, said Sam Brockway, vice president for research and development." |

ANTEC 2003
Tom Ellis presented a paper on the effects of colorant carriers and the strength of weld lines during the Injection Molding Division session. From the many questions from both suppliers and users of color concentrates it appears that this is an area of interest to many parties.
Charles Aloisio presented a paper in the Engineering Properties and Structure Division interactive presentations session on Viscoelastic Analyisis. The feedback was that a great many do not realize the value and power of Master Curves. Charles took the time to emphasis that time-temperature superposition is firmly based theoretically and experimentally.

Recycling
Most thermoplastics polymers can be recycled - that is converted from their initial use as a consumer, business, or industrial product, back into a raw material from which some other product can be manufactured. Recycled materials are often classified as Post-Industrial and Post Consumer. Post-Industrial includes such things as manufactoring scrap, containers and packaging. Post-Consumer is basically and product, container, packaging, etc. that has passed through the hands of a consumer.
There is much controversy over whether the market for recycled materials is sufficient to create the proper recycling infrasture, there must be a consistent supply of recycled material to encourage the growth of the market. In the case of the US paper industry, decreasing availability of virgin wood pulp rapidly created a profitable market for recycled paper.
The following number guide can be used to identify the various resins you may encounter:
